NDS Save Converter update

Plugin system works for a larger range of formats now

I am very hesitant to release this just yet due to lack of testing, but converting was somehow broken in v2.5, and I just had to release something. The conversion is fixed, and plugins are now updated. This is no longer the "NDS Save Converter", but the "Generic Save Converter that happens to have NDS formats built in". (Maybe I should just stick with the old name?) ANyway. Plugins no longer go in the /Plugins folder, but in the /Plugins/Format folder. Example, included is a GBA plugin in /Plugins/GBA. Developers can put plugins into folders like this, so they can use the converter to convert ANY kind of save file that has a raw format that comes in powers of two (256KB, 512KB, etc) and with a size less than 128MB.

Offline NDS Save Converter 2.0 Beta Release

Try it out; Suggest things; Send GBA save files to me

Well, I have released a beta of the Offline NDS Save Converter. It lacks GBA conversion (if no one sends me any save files, then it will only have support for RAW and AKAIO saves), though. I'm not sure what else to say (probebly since this is the third time I've typed it, and I'm going to have to type it a 4th...), other than to post the changelog:
Quote from Changelog:
v2.0 Beta: Rewrote program to be more efficient, and hopefully faster; added new look; added new supported features for save formats: save formats are no longer limited to one or all sizes, a range is now supported. Example: the M3i Zero use a RAW 512KB save file, but some games need a 1MB save file. If you find any errors in suppoted save formats, please report them to admin@uniquegeeks.net. GBA Save conversion comming soon, If you wish to speed the process of GBA Conversion, email your GBA Save files to admin@unquegeeks.net
Download Page Please give me feedback, or I won't be able to improve it as well. [Edit] I knew I forgot something! The online save converter has not been updated, so if you want what is in the changelog above, you'll have to download it!

Even more progress on the Save Converter

I previously posted a list of things I planned on doing for my NDS/GBA online/offline Save Converter:

Well, I've started developing the next version of my online and offline save converters. Anyone have any suggestions?
Currently planned features:

  • Improved size auto-detect code, with support for reading from a stored database of save sizes if you have a game code. The offline will auto-detect the size based on a ROM with the same filename as the save; The online version will feature the ability to search an online database of games to find the game code
  • .Net Interface allowing others to create code for converting new formats if they wish (and will be easier on me to create new formats)
  • For the offline version, an options menu, including the one I planned for version 1.9 (including the ability to enable or disable whether to send me the game name for ARDS conversions), but never added.
  • For the offline version, an installable version in .msi installer, .Net clickonce, while still having a version not requiring an install
  • Integrating the NDS and GBA save converters, not having to use separate tools for each

Features that may or may not be in the next version

  • Writing the offline tool in WPF, allowing the UI to be easily skined, and possibly the ability for custom skins

Well, here is a preview of the new features:

  • Improved size auto-detect to detect sizes up to 128MB
  • Some save formats may not support any size, only a certain size (like the M3i Zero supporting only 512KB, and 1MB for some games), so the converter has support for selecting a size in a certain range
  • The tool is written in WPF, so it will feature minor animations (like a fade-out effect for the convert button instead of just disabling the button. The tool will also feature a darker color theme

More news about this tool is comming soon. Please check back later for more news, or post in this forum any suggestions.

Small Update on Online NDS Save Converter

Small, really

I have just updated a bug on the online NDS save converter fixing a bug in renaming.
Previously, conversion of File.duc to File.sav worked, but File.DUC was not renamed to File.sav.
That bug has been fixed.

Online/Offline Save Converter Update

Bug fixes and new format support

The latest version of the offline save converter has been released.

Changelog v1.9: Added beta Action Replay DS MAX file support, and ability to save game names if there is an NDS ROM with the same filename as the save, and ability to send me the game names to go in a future database

Credits:
-evandixon, for making this tool
-Matt140 for making the ARDSi/Media Edition convertion code, without which, I could not have the kind of ARDS MAX support I have not
-Shuny at http://www.shunyweb.info/ for having the original save converter that inspired me to make this tool
-Dimensional of GBAtemp for the screenshot included with this package
